Miguel: At 37

The host turned 37 today. I could sense that today is different from the other birthdays that have passed before. For some reason, the host feels older - not only chronologically but old and tired physically and mentally.

The past year seem to be taking its toll on the host as he is being drained as the days go by. It could be a combination of different factors including last of rest, sadness, or the feeling of loneliness but hopefully the host would eventually be able to recover. How soon that is to happen, one cannot tell for now, but hopefully some other factor would come up to change that.

DK: Singapore Trip 4th Qtr 2010

i just got back from Singapore. Each one of the voices really love that city for their own reasons. It is only in Kinokuniya that Gene is able to find the RPG novels that he can't find in the local bookstores. Zak is happy with all the electronic stuff that he finds in e stores. He has purchased an iPad in this last trip (via which is post is being typed into).

I think I'm happiest compared to evryone as I get to meet different locals during my stay there. In this trip I met with around ten guys of which four stands out.

The first is at of Nathan. I saw him at the bookstore staring out at me while Zak was checking out the magazines. He was kinda shy so
I walked over and asked for his number. It seems that this handsome boy hasn't found the courage to walk up to anyone as he believes that the locals are not into guys with prett faces but more so with those of built bodies.

Another guy I met was Rocky. He seemed nice but during our talk at the gym it turned out that he is married and has two kids. So it seems that playing around isn't limited to guys here in the Philippines.

The third guy I met was Edwin. He walked up to me at the bar of Play I guess after he saw me make out in the dance floor with the hankdsomest guy during that time. This dragonboater is just 20 years old and hot as hell.

Last but not least was Nate. He's 49 and sweet. After meeying him at the coffee place, he invited me to Zirca where we danced the nigyt away. He still texts me to keep in touch. He might come to visit but that will be for another post. We'll just have to wait and see.

Miguel: Year End Review

Seems other than the January entry by Zak, there doesn't seem to have any posts in the blog. Might as well make a year end review as to what happened between that post and this.

Zak: Zak was able to purchase around five of the ten items in his purchase order. Mostly this was done in the early part of the year. There seems to be some cash flow problems encountered in the latter part of the year and thus purchases have been a little tight.

Gene: A couple of blog games have beens started but there haven't been anything finished. It's possible that it's the nature of the way the game itself which causes the lack of interest amoungst the players. Gene has talked with Rourke and a change in the structure of the game is underway. Hopefully, this will work once they start it out next year.

An interesting note here is that Gene took up playing M:tG again with Jun and his group. Though it feels like more of a distraction rather than something serious. (Though Zak would say otherwise as playing M:tG does dent his forecasts)

DK: A Singapore trip was eventually made in the latter part of the year, thought nothing significant happened while the host was there. It was mostly some R&R and some more "R&R". Hopefully next year a job can be found as well as something more substuntial.

Chuck: A couple of great movies came out this year - Star Trek, Avatar, etc. Nothing significant though in Asian cinema other than BOF.

Miguel: As for me, this year has been partly interesting. There were no serious relationships that occured this year, though there were a couple of significant impact to the host. There was JB, an 23 year old Atenean and Albert who's a 29 year old doctor and ex-model. Both relationships lasted for a month or so but in the end it just didn't work out. That's probably why, I'm single again this Christmas - but then again nothing new there.

That's all I can think of for now. I'll try to do some more posts and updates in the coming year.

Zak: 2009 Purchase Order

The last couple of years have been pretty weird on the Host's budget. A great influx in the prior prior year and a major out flow during the last year has caused us to rethink our spending patterns. A quick review of the previous year's purchases show that most of the purchases are considered to be impromptu purchases - those done in a spur of the moment decision which would result to a product of of less quality than originally thought of or at worse something that would not be actually brought to use.

In light of this, a short list was passed among the different voices to find out the wants and needs in order to facilitate the budget for the current year. Here's what they came out with:

1) Samsung G400 phone - our current phone is busted with the keypad and camera unrepairable.

2) Adidas Megabounce running shoes - our current pair is showing up wear and tear for being used almost everyday. Lloyd is stating that a new pair might be needed as a number of 10k runs might be conducted this year.

3) GAP tweed backpack - our current backpack is fraying on the edges. One can't even close the zippers withour catching the frayed edges with the teeth.

4) Converse black leather chuck taylors - our current pair od chucks (which alternates with our rubber shoes) is also showing wear and (mostly) tears from being used too often.

5) Polo Explorer cologne/perfume - (want) we really haven't finished off our aqua di gio (and I doubt we would) but in case we do plan to buy one perfume this will be the one on the list.

6) N.O.-Xplode - pre-workout drink that Lloyd wants to try on in the months prior to the annual holy week beach trip. Seems it should work with a lean physique better than other drinks

(Update: Lloyd has purchased this in advance in anticipation of using it once the year starts.)

7) Nike Work-out Gloves - again our current pair is showing some wear and tear (there's actually a big hole in the thumb portion on the right glove which threatens to cut off the thumb part as well as quite bothersome when lifting weights).

8) Mini-me standup - (want) there's a shop at glorietta that caught Gene's eye. It seems they might be able to produce a small replica of one's character. The shop's reputation is not quite good though and it might be better to hold off until we have checked the one at Rockwell.

9) Character Art by Kenjiart or Elpinoy - (want) in the prior year, we have contacted some local artists and they have expressed their availability to draw some character portraits. Gene, however, still hasn't figured out which character could be best drawn to represent the current 4e games.

10) Korean dvd movies - there are a couple of movies which came out in the theaters in korea in the previous year but is yet to be released this year. Chuck wants a copy of these:

* Antique - a movie based on the manga/anime
* Boy meets boy - a short silent art film (another basis for the project)
* A frozen flower - new korean martial arts / wuxia film

Gene: Non Gaming

Hmmm... an update on gaming. As per the trend in the last couple of years, the gaming group (specifically the pen and paper role-playing kind) have evolved into using the blogs as their means of playing. With the advent of the D&D 4th edition, we have also adapted that system into the game process.

We have just finished a campaign using 4e and 3.5e/Pathfinder's adventure path adventure: Burnt Offering. We called the game Sandpoint. It's basically a 4e converstion of the pathfinder adventure. The goal of the campaign was to learn more about the 4e system. So far, the gaming group likes it (or has simply adapted). DM has decided to pause the game and would probably continue with the 2nd part after a brief break.

In the meantime, Stephen has picked up the DM's mantle and started a Spelljammer 4e campaign. It's supposed to be based on the 2e Spelljammer basics, 3e's proposed campaign setting and a couple of Gazetteer influenced backgrounds. However, it's still having a rough time lifting off the ground. I'm still unsure if it's because of the lack of the interest of the players or simply the newness of the campaign setting/system.

I've checked the blogs and I think DM's gearing up with another project in the meantime. Seems he's trying to revive an old eberron campaign - CSI: Sharn. It's mostly detective work. Currently it's revised for a solo adventure but might change once the other players get wind of it. Will post another update when things move along.

Chuck: Project X

In Prague of Czechoslovakia, there is a triad organization, Arlumit which is in fierce discrepancy between the Conservative party and the Reform party regarding on the new heir of the organization. Karon, Leia and Behr, the merciless killers, are hired by the Conservative party and the Reform party to root each other out. Karon and Leia of the Reform party are ordered to kill the computer expert and Behr of the Conservative party. At the moment, Leia realized that Behr is her first love when they were young. She doesn't have the heart to shoot Behr. Karon is so disappointed and try to get rid of Behr on his own and get into the point of no return.

This new concept is so to say seamless, as the responsible artists offer MV clips which closely match their songs! For instance for feature 13, "Killer", Cha Seung-won takes up the role of the murderer Caron and is shown attacking a victim turning the screen into a pool of blood while the music features heavy rap sounds to underline the Gangster-metal genre. Shin Hye-chul was responsible for the gripping lyrics and the compositional arrangement and Psy delivers a first rate rap attack! Accordingly, feature number 6 "Why", which presents Caron sharing a special relationship with his partner Sniper (Kim Ming-jung), is wrapped in sentimental and passionate sounds on a song that is performed by Wax.

Don't miss this superb new work of art, which features 18 all new works from various artists including Lee Seung-chul, Lee Ssang, Kim Hyun-chul, Kim Hyun-jung as well as Park Wan-kyu among many others with the support of underground musicians Ash, GRU, DJ Fractal and the Hiphop Crew!

I really liked this movie/music video. Not only was it shot in Prague but its an original way to make a film. I would like to someday be able to make one like this. Much like a silent film, with only a few important dialogues and just lots of emotion and background music.

Here's a sample. Do take note that this clip might be a 4 min music video but the whole Project X is really a full length movie.

New Voices

Wow! It's been more than three years since I last posted in this blog. There are several factors which contributed to that hiatus but lets just say that several voices were silent during those times and other voices were have come up. Yup, am still slightly split personality but it's not as crazy up here as it was before.

Gene's still here. The brat still pretty much the inner child. Miguel's still here but his manipulations have died down to almost nothing in the last couple of years. Zak's there but a bit bummed coz of the financial stuff which have gone up and down in the last years.

There are a couple new voices which have risen up. One calls himself Lloyd - the health buff. The other one calls himself DK who mostly took over Ying Tzi's personality of keeping track of all things Asian that I like. Chuck is the one who has movies as his passion.

I'll try to post more often as possible, much like a new year's resolution for me. So, I guess we'll see you around. :)
