GENE: Master and Padawan
Bumped into a UPLB Junior player yesterday while I was on my way home. Actually, Reyval's the DM of the Junior player's gaming group so it was bound to be an interesting discussion. He was reading the 'Complete Arcane' book so it was easy to assume that they were still playing - which it turns out they were. They have a small group of five players which still meet every other day. He was to be a player this time and was asking if I had any tips in using the D&D 3.5 system. I guess I tapped into the inner geek and before long we were discussing rules, campaign worlds and adventure ideas. The ride was just an hour long but before it was over he was more than eager to use some of the game ideas which I have been wondering for a while now. It has been months (years?) since my last game and it was fun being able to visit that special place once more. 'wonder when my own gaming group will be able to do our own visits...

MIGUEL: LOST during the Holy Week, part II
Speaking of LOST, During the Holy week, I managed to get myself sorta Lost at Tagaytay with Daniel. We went to Tagaytay yesterday to show some Japanese businessman some house and lot for sale at Crosswinds, Tagaytay. We didn't really make the sale since the Jap guy wanted a ready to live in house but it takes eight months (after first deposit) before one can be finished.
Anyways, traffic was pretty bad and we got stuck for five hours. The car was complaining for both overheat and an empty gas tank. We had to pull over to a small cafe to let the traffic subside which wasn't until around ten pm. To make matters bad, the weather turned really cold and we were's without jackets. That teach us not to work during the Holy days.

GENE: LOST during the Holy Week, part I
was able to get hold of the first eighteen (18) episodes of the TV series LOST. Great show! The combination of mystery, action and drama had me glued to the tube. It's interesting to watch the alternating scenes from flashbacks and current timeline. You get to know the characters, which have their own secrets, as well as discover what is really wrong with the island at the same time they do - umm... actually even after eighteen episodes i still don't see what's with the island. i guess i have to wait like the rest of the guys out there.

JOSHUA: Which LOST character are you?
Well, based on this website I'm more of Jack, the doctor -
"Ah, the classic codependent. You are the people love to have around in a crisis because you know what to do and how to do it. You'll get all the chicks - until the bad boy flexes his muscle."

GENE: Which Fantasy/Sci?Fi Character are You?
Hey Rico! Guess you have more than one thing in common with Jean-Luc. He he he!!
An accomplished diplomat who can virtually do no wrong, you sometimes know it is best to rely on the council of others while holding the reins.
There are some words which I have known since I was a schoolboy. "With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably." These words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie -- as a wisdom, and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged.

PIPER: Nate Berkus: The Tsunami Disaster
Had nothing to do during valentine's day so I decided to watch some Oprah re-runs. One episode I saw was that of the tsunami disaster. Oprah opened the show with the statement: "When catastrophe strikes and you know someone in it, it all becomes more real.
It turns out that Nate Berkus, the semi-regular interior designer, who has been a common face on the show if you're familiar with the Oprah series, was at Sri Lanka when the tsunami disaster happened.. I guess I was glued to the tube just feeling emphatic as he retold his tale on how he lost his partner and of the ordeal he had to endure in order to survive. More on the episode here

JOSHUA: Michael Buble, It's Time
Got hold of the new Michael Buble audio cd from tower records yesterday (original, take note). I still have to listen to all the tracks but I'm enjoying what I've already heard. However, the cd player is stuck on repeat on track 3. I think that's the soundtrack of the host right now:
You Don't Know Me
You give your hand to me
And then you say hello
And I can hardly speak
My heart is beating so
And anyone can tell
You think you know me well
But you don't know me
No you don't know the one
Who dreams of you at night
And longs to kiss your lips
Longs to hold you tight
Oh I am just a friend
That's all I've ever been
Cause you don't know me
I never knew the art of making love
No my heart aches with love for you
Afraid and shy I let my chance go by
The chance that you might love me too
You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy
Oh you will never know
The one who loves you so
Well you don't know me
You give your hand to me
And then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away beside the lucky guy
Oh you will never know
The one who loves you so
Cause you don't know me
Oh no you don't know me
OOhh...you don't know me
