GENE: To blog or not to blog

was talking with a circle member yesterday and he said he was kinda sad that whenever he would check out the messages from the yahoogroup he would find that there are few messages posted on the group - fewer even than the already minimal amount the group has been receiving aside from the occasional forwarded messages, web links and weird quotes.

i guess the reason for that is that most of the members of the circle have either been busy with their own lives and/or have found another means of output in the form the blog. i found it curious though that even if basically, the blog is supposed to be a place where one can rant and share his thoughts to the rest of the world it has, it would seem, also have been a way of distancing one's self from the others who are already around him.

i don't know if this is indeed part of the goal of a blogger (to distance himself) when he first sets up his site, as each blogger has his or her own agenda when setting up his blog. but, just maybe, blogging is in itself a just a narcissistic and self-absorb way of saying: me! me! me! not really that good when you look at it from the other side of the mirror, eh?

another curious thing though, the yahoogroup tagline is 'a group of changelings in their fight against banality' - with the dwindling messages and blogs popping up, does this mean winter is winning?
